I was looking at the elections page http://www.usgo.org/board/election.html - had noticed one was on in the AGA E-Journal. Reading over the timeline, I'm a bit suprised to see that only 2 candidates have a statement for the voters to read over. Is that normal?

Anyway, my main interest is this...
2 out of 4 posts are contested. I've never seen a contested election at any AGM I ever went to. So my question is this, Do you normally see people fighting over who is going to be in control at your Go Club / Association? Or is my observation, that nobody wants to take charge, more accurate?

I had actually submitted my statement right after nominations and didn't realize it hadn't been posted until I saw in the E-Journal that no statements had been posted. An email cleared things up :)

On the local level I can clearly state that I have run go clubs in two cities in the USA and in each case no one wanted to take over the task from me. In third city I did not have time to dedicate to it and, even though there were player who played together, there was no formal club.

A couple of years ago Jie Li challenged Roy Laird because Jie thought the incumbent wasnt doing a good job. Maybe the people challenging dont think the current members arent doing a good job. I'm sure Daniel will tell you more of his motivations for running.
