I`ve read that word so often, always connected with making life in the corner involving a ko.
but what does this term mean? where`s the difference to conditional life?

Well literally it means that the life of the group is not conditional - it's not based on who wins a ko or who has sente. Basically it's alive no matter what (given optimal play). edit: http://senseis.xmp.net/?UnconditionalLife |
