Post subject: | the weakness of this joseki |
i have been told this joseki is weak unless you are using it to attack but that in other cases you shouldn;t use it because your corner can still be invaded at 3-3 but let's say i do want to invade. i can't figure out how to do it when black defends this way. black to play i have played it a couple different ways but i cannot see how you can connect with the 3-3 stone? is it possible? |

Well let me show you a newer variation of this joseki. Both variations are known even, but some territory-loving pros think better of black in the first diagram. |

I'm not sure if it is the best sequence at all but even if black can get this stone, his corner has vanished after the "failed" invasion (think about B Q17 as defense by black, although it is somewhat ugly, then play white) |
