After 5 years, 1 month and 14 days of playing I finally reached shodan. Image
During that time I played a total of 1144 games, of which 840 were ranked games.

Since KGS Analytics provides such a wonderful service of storing old games, I'll post some highlights of the career so far.

This was my first game on KGS after having read the rules, played 14th of April 2006:



This was the game that made me single-digit kyu, played 18th of July 2007:



Finally, the game at the end of the current 8-win streak which made me 1 dan, played 27th of May 2011:

I noticed that it takes approximately 1000 games to reach dan ranks, based on mine and two of my friends stats. If you guys are using single account, you can check your progress at KGS analytics.

I have 159 rated games (575 in total) so far and I play only on KGS with only one account =O

Hmmm ... I must be incredibly dense. :) I've played 1259 games on KGS since October of 2008 (and likely just as many from April 2007 when I started to that point; KGS Analytics doesn't go back that far). I'm only 3k.

Of course, another explanation is that I'm just not as serious about Go as the rest of you ... don't know if that's actually true or not ...

- The interface is a bit complicated. It calculates data based on the months that are showing next to each year, so you have to manually go over those months that aren't showing. You started playing 2009/6 and have played 598 games now.

I'd say that they count, but each 9x9 game is some fraction of a 19x19 game.

Congrats. Now for the real question. Why does KGS analytics work the way it does?

After way too much work, I can say I've played 1036 games on my main account at KGS. There was also a blitz account for a while, and I've played some on IGS, and maybe 300 games in person. I'm a solid 4k right now (I was jumping between 2k and 3k two or three years ago).
