Seo Bongsoo is currently on a winning streak of 7 games in the GG Acution cup, which is a Korean win-and-continue format tournament between female players and senior (over 45*) men. Today he beat Park Jieun 9d, and a few days ago Kim Hyeoimin 7d (game below, it featured the same aggressive joseki in the lower right as Ali vs Lukas in the EGC, but Kim jumped to o5 where Lukas pushed at q6). The current record of win streaks is 8 from Cho Hunhyun and Choi Jung in the 2011 edition, will Seo be able to best his nemesis Cho for this record? Choi Jung, the #1 woman in Korea who recently scored 2 wins as the only female player in the Korean baduk league, is yet to play though...

* but Lee Changho aged 41 is in this year's team, maybe its 40+ now?

Seo Bongsoo won again! He beat Kim Nahyun 2d by resign so makes it 8 wins in a row.

I noticed that as well. So cool, he is already in his 60`s and still gives great performance. Recently i became kind of a fan of Seo Bong-soo, one of the reasons was the "Perception of Meijin" series watchable on Gogameguru "baduk tv english". He is not only a very aggressive player and his games are always very fun to follow, at the same time he is very sympathetic, modest and with some nice sense of humor.

Maybe it is a bit dangerous to try to play like him as single digit kyu... but anyway i like his attacking style very much.
Hope that we see more of such good games of him for long time...

Seo is now playing Kim Yoonyoung 4d in his 9th game, broadcast on wbaduk.
Edit: Seo wins again, for a record 9 wins in a row in this tournament!

In today's game Seo is playing Oh Yujin 2d, probably the 2nd best woman in Korea currently behind Choi Jung. They start with a sprawling large avalanche fight in the first corner.
Update: Seo finally lost, looks to me like he overplayed in the avalanche fight, a load of his stones died for scant compensation and his play seemed pretty desperate from then on. Maybe he was happy to get 9 wins and felt like relaxing and letting the rest of his team have a go :) .

I think 3 here could be the losing move, black leans a bit to strengthen her group with 4-5-6-7 and then makes a severe attack at 8.

For comparison, Lee Sedol (white) played this against Park Junghwan to defend that white group in a similar position (minus probing exchanges in corner and non-empty other corners, that extension also made some loose pincer of the black lower right:

Seo ended up losing the clump in a ko, got a ponnuki on the outside that needed gote to avoid being low and some aji stones plastered against the black wall; game over already no? He did later connect at a to attack the marked stones, but the bad aji at b/c meant black captured the marked white ones for safety.

Seo may be out, but team senior is still doing well: after beating Seo Oh Yujin (now 3p) beat Kim Soojang 9d, but then lost to Seo Nungwuk 9d. The female team now only has Yun Yongmin 3d and Choi Jung 6d (women #1) left. I expect Choi to get at least a few wins, but with 10 seniors remaining (including Yoo Changhyuk, Lee Changho, but no Cho Hunhyun (perhaps because he is involved in politics now)) she faces a daunting task if she is to turn this around for team female.

Seo Nungwuk 9p beat Yun Youngmin 3p (http://www.go4go.net/go/games/sgfview/56636) so now Choi Jung has to beat 10 senior players in a row to win.

Choi Jung got off to a good start today with an emphatic 11.5 point win against Seo Nungwuk in a fighting-filled game. 1 down, 9 to go!

Choi Jeong defeated Lee Hongyeol by resign. 2 wins so far.

Today Choi is playing Na Jonghoon 7d. He played rather old-style san ren sei moyo, but tenukid for a big area which let one of the walls get weak and now by move 100 it looks like Choi has killed another group (if bad aji in her corner can be handled) with the support she got from attacking the wall.

Update: Na resigned when massively behind (30+) after 230 moves. He tried to use the dead group aji against surrounding groups to enclose a big centre, but it had holes and Choi nicely wriggled in for her 3rd win.

Who are the 6 remaining opponents?

I wonder if the senior team will send a relatively strong player for the next game trying to stop Choi Jung (maybe not yet Lee Changho, but Yoo Changhyuk for example), or they will just make a random choice to make the tournament more "interesting".

"Who are the 6 remaining opponents?"

Lee Changho, Yoo Changhyuk, Yang Jaeho, Choi Kyubeong, Kim Younghwan, Kim Chanwoo and Lee Sanghoo 7 left.

Does anyone know if the Lee Sanghoon is the brother (born 1975) of Lee Sedol or the other one (born 1973). As Lee Changho (born 1975) is playing they are both old enough. http://senseis.xmp.net/?LeeSanghoon.

Edited to put brackets in clearer place.

The non-brother, who is 9-dan. The brother is 8-dan. And Yi Se-tol was born in 1983.

Just in passing, GG Auctions Cup is a better rendering.

I thought Lee Sedol's brother was also 9 dan now; this wbaduk news article from when they both resigned (or threatened to, what ever came of it?) that player association hoo-ha a few months back also says 9p: http://www.wbaduk.com/news/news_view.asp?news_no=1544. But maybe it is incorrect?

You are right. I missed the last promotion to 9d in 2015-12. That also means my assertion about which player is in the GG Auctions Cup may be wrong.

You may wish to note that the Hanguk Giwon distinguishes them as follows:

이상훈(大) - the elder

이상훈(小) - the younger (and brother of Se-tol)

(i.e. Yi Sang-hun)

The player of GG Auction is Lee Sedol's brother. He's a pretty good player when he was young, but Lee Changho just too strong.
