I hadn't been keeping up with the Go scene for a while, and today I decided to check the recent tournament results and saw very few international matches. What's the deal? |

Compared to when? The long-established Fujitsu cup stopped in 2011, BC Card existed for 4 years to 2012 and Toyota to 2009, but since then the number of international tournaments has actually grown with 4 new Chinese-sponsored ones and the Japanese World Go Championship. See https://senseis.xmp.net/?InternationalT ... cs%2FTable. Korean domestic tournaments on the other hand have been cut back greatly. Also the Chinese A league has many top Koreans in it, each round you get half a dozen games between players which would be worthy of an international title final. |
