The following game has been copied from entry 105 (*)here , which I reached looking for something else. If I understand the translation correctly, this is the first time a woman (Kikuyo sensei) wins a male title holder (Yoda Norimoto sensei, I think). I'm having some troubles with the translation, though. The 54th Honinbo winner was Cho Sonjin sensei, I believe, against Cho Chikun Honinbo, so... maybe it means the first time a woman wins (an official match) against a title holder? Also, does anyone know what the comment on 30m late means? And that about H. Komatsu sensei winning against Yamabe Toshiro? The first time a woman won against a 9-dan, maybe? Then there's a comment on Yokoz[s?]eki Iho, the person I was looking for information, and snakes, that escapes me again. Can anyone help me makes heads and tails about it? Sorry to bother. Take care. (*) John Fairbairn got spammed with porn on that site, so I'm setting the link separate. Beware http://game.5ch.net/test/read.cgi/bgame/1003343708/ --admin this website says its owner had banned US visitors for viewing it. Combined with John's report, I'm going to be cautious and remove the URL until one of us with a proxy can take a look Reinstated after one of us took a look and didn't see anything untoward-- |

First, you should warn people that that site is pornographic. You won't find much about Yokozeki because not much is known about her (and only 4 games). The game in which Aoki beat Yoda was in the 2nd Preliminary of the 55th Honinbo in 1999. He as a titleholder at the time, but in another event. The article claims it was the first time a woman had beaten a current titleholder. I know of no reference that links Komatsu Hideko to Yamabe, but she was famous under her maiden name of Ninomiya as the first 1-dan to beat a 9-dan when taking White, but that was against Chino Tadahiko, in the Judan. It caused quite a fuss at the time. The 105 article claims she also beat Yamabe but the writer was unable to find the game record. Given Yamabe's age and condition at the likely time, I'd guess it was a default win, if it happened at all. There is no reference to snakes. The kanji occurs as part of a phrase (dasoku desu ga) that's used to mean "Incidentally" when introducing a superfluous or trivial extra fact. Dasoku desu ga, you'll find a lot more about women in go in my (copyrighted) article in the English Go World (or New in Go). |

Sorry, don't know what's happening. Edited it, just in case. Go world CD collection is in my list. This autumn, I hope. Right now I'm going through one of her games, also referenced in that site, I believe, and... There are things that don't make sense. I'll ask when I get a keyboard. Thanks. Take care. And sorry. |

jlt wrote: I don't know about the website, but the sgf is corrupted There is a noncorrupt version at Hon55/P05.sgf. The metadata is not quite correct: 1999-11-30 is too late for a 2nd Preliminary. This record has 215 moves. My version of GoGoD has the first 163 moves. |
