PAIR GO Final: Pak Cheong-hwan & Li Seul-a (South Korea) beat Xie He and Song Ronghui (China) 3rd Place Playoff: Ch’oe Ch’eol-han & Kim Yun-yeong (South Korea) beat Zhou Junxun & Joanne Missingham (Taiwan). Pak and Li won despite being involved on the losing side in an irregularity in Round 2 of the league. Sudden death time limits were being used (45 minutes each). There was a rule that the chief referee could intervene when one side played abnormal moves just to win on time. The Chinese pair had about 1 minute left, the Koreans 4 minutes. Chinese chief referee Wu Yulin consulted Korea referee Kim Su-chang who spoke to the Korean pair and they then resigned. |

With the recent news, I was wondering if North Korea played go internationally. I see there's a women's team - is there no men's team, or did they not qualify? Also, it looks like their score is wrong. You have them 4-2, whereas in the actual results it looks like they're 3-3. Japan is wrong as well. |

The results of Taiwan or noteworthy as well in my humble opinion, even if they field several Nihon Ki-in professionals. Who on this forum e.g. would have bet before on Cho U going undefeated playing as first board? (Taiwan, Japan, North Korea women teams all went 3-3, with all of them losing to South Korea and China, and Taiwan beating Japan beating North Korea beating Taiwan) |
