Hi,

I am receiving a "500 Internal Server Error" when clicking on some of the results from the Search feature. I was doing a "Shuei" search less than 1/2 an hour ago, and when clicking on anything Nov. 29th or older could not access the pages. I tried restarting my browser, clearing the cache and so forth, but had the same result.

I searched some other items to test it, but instead had success (even when looking up the words "internal server" from a 2011 thread).

Yep, been seeing the same for the last 48 hour or so. I seem to get it whenever I click on the numbered pages for earlier pages in longer threads.

I've been getting it a lot trying to go to the first unread post in a thread.

Okay, now I'm practically booted out of the "Reeling Rushed" topic I'm active in. It, and only it, takes AGES to load. It's very specific topics, mostly the active ones. This time it happened right after my last reply to it. I think my post broke the Matrix.

Can someone get on this before the entire forum collapses?

Edit: Now it's giving me the "500 Internal Server Error". It doesn't matter which page of a topic or if I click to go directly to the last post. I just can't access them.

Edit edit: It comes and goes, mostly comes.

I've been getting a few of them too.
Edit: In my case it wasn't from searching, it was after posting(and editing a post) to a thread. When it usually refreshes the thread to show your post, it just hung there, until finally I got the 500 server error.

no admins have chimed in yet?

I wonder what the server error logs say?

Ditto. For the last few days now. I thought it was just me.

I have been experiencing it as well. Of course, when I went to try and report it I got the same 500 Internal Server error ... and I forgot about it once I came back and everything was working. :D

Ok, Ok, I believe you. :) It just never happens for me when I try to duplicate it.

Jordus is in the midst of some changes in his personal life. It may be a few days untill we have someone looking at this.

can't you just look at the server logs? It might become obvious as to what the problem is.

Now it hasn't happened to me at all for two days. It must be some sort of intermittent bug.

I've been suspecting a database issue. We're probably sharing the same database instance with other sites being hosted on the same server. After a while, the database gets bogged down with locked threads high cpu/memory usage, etc. Then the hosting company finally notices, reboots the database and we're back to normal for a while. After a few weeks, we're back to having issues (really, really slow to load long threads, etc.)

If we're on a dedicated server, then its our own site causing the issues, and the information should be in the logs. The admins should have access to the logs through some sort of control panel

Have the issues subsided? Sorry I haven't been active lately. We are on a shared database so it was probably getting bogged down. Please send me some pm's if the issue comes up again. Happy forum surfing :)

Does PHPBB not log database problems?

Apparently not. The latest entries in the error log are from October. ( That, BTW, is why we didn't even know about this for a week or so. EdLee was the first to describe these problems, but I could not duplicate them, and the error log showed nothing. So I assumed that it was a problem at EdLee's end. )

Caveat: I'm still a beginner at PHPBB, so I may be missing something. Jordus should know more about this than I.
