Does anyone know anything about either of the following? My natural instinct is to move out, but black easily makes territory on top, and I feel awkward with my white stones. For example: Just doesn't feel right. Thoughts? |

In the second I would expect Black to cut for 7. So playing 4 at q16 is one way to avoid that. |

1st - tenuki and if he plays another move, it's worse than any enclosure. 2nd - either push out and make empty triangle or bump his stone and jump out, both are ok |

The 2nd one is covered in Lee Chang-ho's Korean book 'How to handle hamete'. It's quite a fun book, with maybe 60 hamete showing falling for and refuting them. It's also got this similar one which Matthew Macfadyen used against me once! |

Thanks, everyone. And thanks for the book reference, Uberdude. As it turns out, I already own that book. I guess it shows how much I need to study the go books I already have :-p |
