Post subject:  Interesting(?) corner position from a game

This comes from a recent game of mine (slightly modified to focus on the main issue):

White to play. What is the status of the black corner? (In the game it died, but I suspect that there were at least one, quite possibly several blunders - on both sides).

If white can kill playing first, what is the status if it is black's turn?

I feel like I'm missing something, but I think 1 gives black a second eye. And if white plays first (taking 1); 1 and A are miai, so Black 2 at A. So black lives?

Black can play at a (anyone) and capture a white stone. Together with the eye in the corner, he is safely alive.
