What's the refutation to this sequence? I'm interested why, in this variation, stretching once and jumping instead of twice is the proper way.

Hi Jujube,

Quick search: the extend again (to R14, instead of R13 jump) is not unheard of:
about 25% (37 out of 144 pro games) with this local shape.

But the immediate :w1: 3rd line push is rare (less than 1%).

I wouldn't say things as strongly as 'refutation' or 'proper': like ez4u showed black can capture both stones, but white might atari on top qnd/or use the 3-3 attachment to make shape and then keep fighting on the outside now the group is stronger. To make white's tesuji at 3-3 easier to resist black can push an extra time before jumping, but the downside is you push from behind and make white stronger. Both are plausible, depending on surroundings.
