Some of you suggest getting a teacher, and I very much like that idea. But I'm really not sure how to get one or how it would normally work online? And how expensive would it normally be?

You can try to improve by yourself for a few weeks by playing regularly. If it brings you nowhere, you can still get a teacher. (Of course, if you prefer learning from a teacher anyway, you can get some immediately.)

How to get a teacher? Ask every potential teacher whether he would like to teach you!

Unless you happen to find a free teacher by chance, the fees depend on teacher, teaching modes, discounts and other factors. I guess that everything from EUR 5 to 150 per hour exists:) Typical discount prices vary between EUR 5 and 25 per hour. Higher prices can mean two things: the teacher demands more money for his higher rank (independently of whether that means better teaching quality) or the lessons have a better quality.

How expensive it becomes also depends on how frequently you take lessons, of course.

How it works? E.g., KGS has a teaching mode, which allows playing game, showing variations and adding comments. Written forms of teaching are also possible, such as you send in SGFs and get a trivial or (more expensive) very profound commentary.
