The latest update makes it so I cannot even run GoGrinder. I have the same hardware and OS as mentioned earlier in the post.

When I try to launch the app, it crashes every time. I prefer not having the update and having slightly offset stones to having an app that doesn't work...

I hadn't tried in a while, but I just launched it and it crashed immediately.

I never got it to work again on my 3GS (note that I never upgraded to iOS4). I got an iPhone 4 and it works fine.

Is the developer paying attention to this thread? It crashes on launch, and I truly feel that this is just a waste of $3. If you're not going to maintain it, stop selling it.

Yes, I'm watching the thread, but I only know of two problems with GG, neither of which can be fixed:

1. For some people on iOS 3.x, it crashes at startup. There's no way I can debug this because Apple doesn't allow downgrading, and doesn't allow the simulator to work for older versions. Upgrading to iOS 4 has fixed this for everyone I know of.
2. There was a problem with the initial versions that broke updating to a later version. After updating, GG crashes at startup. The way to fix this is to remove GG from your iPhone and the re-add it. I can't fix this one because I can't go back in time to fix the earlier version.

If you're running on iOS 4, and you have tried removing GG and re-adding it, then you're seeing a new bug that I haven't heard about. I'm happy to look into it.

It works fine on my 3GS (version 4.1). But it is full of problems, especially Xuan Xuan Qi Jing problem set doesn't appear solvable which can sometimes be frustrating. Please, in the next version give only the solutions, I don't want to see problems any more...

I'm not sure what you mean, entropi. Do you mean the XXQJ problems contain lots of wrong variations?

Hi Lobotommy - we're playing on OGS right now. I'm MatCauthon there.

The app didn't crash for OS 3 users, so I would guess that you could provide an "upgrade" for OS3 users, which simply provided the old software. The old version had bugs for OS3, but at least it worked.

I only "upgraded" because I thought the upgrade may address some of the tolerable bugs. I didn't know it would break the app completely.

Nooo, it was just a bad joke ;-) Everything works fine. The only problem is that I cannot solve the XXQJ problems.

This returns "invalid ID" for me. Is it still available/accessible?

Also, Tim, any news on an universal version of the app? On the iPad, in x2, it really doesn't look great. :)

I may not be up to date with what is there now, but if the usual sources have been used, you can take it that there are more than a few wrong variations and even wrong answers. And wrong starting diagrams. It's a complex subject and even pros disagree and boob. I happen to be working on the book that explains it all at this very moment. All the "wrongnesses" make my head spin and I come here for a bit of sanity.

The same remarks can be made for the classics in general.

I had this happen with another app, and I don't actually know what causes it. It probably wasn't GoGrinder's fault, though. May be a good idea to restart the device every so often to clear up memory. It seems generally recommended after installing a bunch of stuff. To restart, hold down the home and sleep buttons until the Apple logo appears.

I have had to reinstall this program yet again on my ipad2. The program is working now but when I try to reinstall my problem sets I am getting invalid id errors. Anyone else having this issue?

That's because the problem bundles only hang around on the server for a few weeks. Some users have had concerns about copyrighted problem collections getting out, so I delete the problems from the server every once in a while.

I understand somewhat the copywrite concerns, though I thought that was the purpose for the 8 character id. For me this means I will no longer be using the program any more. It was already aggravating enough to type in the Ids every time I had to reinstall the program (which I seem to need to do every few months), it definitely isnt worth my time to have to re upload the problem sets every time the program bombs out. You might want to think about whether the copywrite concern outweighs a negative user experience.
