I have recently started playing more on DGS, and my friend, who has an Android, would like to play too. There seem to be a number of clients available - do any of you all have any experience with them or any recommendations for him? Thanks!!

I use anDGS. No complaints, simple but does the job fine and is stable.

So, he gave that one a try, but couldn't see any of my chat/comments. Do you all know how to see and respond to those?

Comments appear beneath the board for me, in a small text box. The same box is used for making replies when you're taking your turn.

Hmm, he wasn't seeing that - I'll see if I can get a screen shot.

Yes, that looks like his. The comment box is at the bottom - my comments don't show up in his box, and when he taps the box to try to send a comment to me nothing happens - he doesn't get a cursor or anything.

What game on DGS are you looking at? (game-id I mean) ?

Funny, seems like it worked itself out, and all of a sudden the comment box works. I tried tapping on it myself before when he was at my house, and couldn't get it to do anything either! Anyway, glad it's working now, and thanks for the help!

Sorry, I don't monitor this forum anymore. But I sill do support anDGS. Please send a support questions directly to me.

The comment box is not always active for you to type into. It is only active for input after you have made a move up to when you send the move. Before you make a move, it will display the comment received with the move.

Another hint, if you long press the comment box you get to a list (initially empty) of saved comments that you can select/add to/edit to send to your opponent. I use it to store various greetings, thank yous, and other comments that I frequently make to save retyping them over and over.

Thanks so much! I passed this along to my friend, and now we understand what the issue was with the comment box - we were trying to get to it at the wrong time. I believe all is working well for him now. Again - much appreciated!
