Hi there,

I´m thinking about purchasing a Goban from gogameguru.com , one of the major reason is that they provide free shipping (which can be quite expensive if you order a Goban from Asia...:( ).
How long will the shipping take , if the order has to be shipped from Asia to Germany ? I know that it might be better to ask the GGG support, but they seem to ignore at least some of there customers (or just don´t have the time to answer.) I hope you guys can help me out.

First of all, it depends on whether they need to ship from overseas or can ship your desired item from Great Britain.

If an item is available, then IMX they are fast. However, your items might be listed but not already be available here. In this case, obviously the items must first travel via the ocean(s) and, as usual for surface mail, this can take several weeks to a few months. IOW, you better ask the shop for availability and whether your desired, freely shipped items are available from where they are shipped for free (or whether free shipping is indeed worldwide) and how long it needs.

Shipping heavy goods overseas can be quite expensive, so it would be an extra special offer if their shipping were always free.

Hello,

I ordered my goban from GGG and I found that the service was excellent.

The shipping was indeed free and the goban arrived from Korea in three weeks, neatly packed and in perfect condition. I live in Belgium by the way.

I also once experienced a delay when mailing with GGG but this appeared to be caused by external factors that couldn't be foreseen.

Greetings

Sorry that we didn't reply to your email Backpack. We sometimes receive over 100 emails in one day and we often don't reply to emails over the weekend. Usually we're still working, but we need the weekend to catch up on other work. For nearly all of June, and early July, I was very sick and couldn't keep up with emails. Things are better now and we've also made some changes so that Younggil and Jing can respond to emails as well. So we're generally responding quite quickly again now and if you still haven't received a reply, please let me know.

Some general answers about shipping:

We always ship by ground or air from the US, UK, Asia or Australia (maybe Canada and some other places too in the future) - based on closest/best value location that has stock. That means you'll nearly always receive your order in 1-3 weeks, depending on where you live. In extreme cases, like where volcanic ash clouds or blizzards shut down major shipping hubs, orders can take longer.

We never ship to customers by sea, except for big wholesale orders (it takes too long for most customers). In Robert's case (above), he was asking about a book that was brand new and we had to wait several more weeks for our first batch of stock to arrive, before we could sell it to him.

As soon as an order ships, we send an email with an estimated delivery date or range of dates. For most orders, we'll also send you a tracking link and tracking updates (e.g. let you know when the package is out for delivery, so you can be there to receive it or know that you should visit the post office after work). If you enter a mobile/cell phone number at the checkout, you can get these updates as text messages too. Only a few carriers, like Royal Mail in the UK (which is used a lot for books), still don't provide tracking services, though most do these days.

Free shipping is currently available on all equipment, in nearly all regions. Unfortunately, we had to stop offering it in some regions like South America, South Africa and Russia, because we couldn't find any reliable and cost effective ways to get Go boards there :(. In a couple of months we'll add a new range of cheaper Go equipment to our store and we'll have to revise our free shipping policy and our prices at that time. However, we'll still offer the best rates on shipping that we can find for you.

Yes please! While on the wish list train ... a brick and mortar store / fulfillment center would be great - and a first in Canada. Pretty wide open market up here, with thriving Chinese, Japanese, and Korean cultural centers. Come visit Toronto (or Markham, northeast Toronto) and you'll see what I mean.

As a friend once said to me over lunch ... "only in Markham can you eat at a Japanese restaurant run by Koreans in a Chinese mall".

Actually that's not difficult to find in many places. :)
