A new 6.2-sun (18.6 cm) Kaya Goban purchased from Kuroki Goishi sold this morning on eBay for $885.00. I believe the seller paid Kuroki around $2700.00 for the goban originally. I had been following this listing(s) for almost a month, watching as the "buy it now" price kept falling until the seller finally put it up for bid with an opening price of $500.00.

I feel bad for the seller. That's got to hurt, and it's such a beautiful goban. I really hope the buyer is someone who plans to actually use it and not try to resell it again.

It's a sad thing when something that rare and expensive is sold for a low price. Let's hope the buyer treasures it and uses it to play lots of games.

Now that they have it for a low price, maybe they will have some spare cash to spend at kurokigoishi for some carefully selected stones and bowls.

Dang. Had I known, I would have bid more for it (not to say I wouldn't have been outbid by the buyer).

Knowing the winner of this auction (sadly not me), I can tell you this goban is going to a person who has waited years to find one like it and who can truly appreciate it.
