Hello everyone! I bought a Kaya Goban from Kuroki Goishi two months ago and today it arrived. (I ordered per ship, that's why the long shipping).

The package was very neatly packed and with great care. The quality of the board is also superior!

Wow, what a beautiful board. I am sure it was well worth the wait. I hope you enjoy playing on the board for many years to come.

Do you have any more pictures of the top of the board? I always like seeing the grain on the top playing surface.

Thanks,

Justin

That is a beautiful. Would you mind taking 3-4 more pictures at various angles and sharing them? I always enjoy these showcases.

Congrats! Wood floor, too! I hope people will enjoy this board for hundreds of years,
assuming humanity will not have destroyed ourselves first. :)

Thank you for the extra pictures. It's a lovely board and has a beautiful grain pattern to the board. How many suns is the board or centimeters? Did you also purchase new stones with the board?

I am currently looking for Go stones for my board but unsure of the size. After seeing your stones on the board. I like the aesthetic between your board and stones. What size are the stones?

Hi Justin! I think my board is 5.4sun or 5.6 not entirely sure.

The stones are Korean Glass Stones, 11mm thick and 22 (?)mm strong. They are the biggest avaiable :)

I had them before I purchased the new board. Sadly, I have no money for new stones at the moment. :)

Thanks for the positive feedback!

I played on cardboard for a long time as a child and youth (when dinosaurs walked on earth) … and I find, when I’m playing, the board and its features vanish and play zero role in my game and my enjoyment :-)

That's right, I play that plastic board with my kids and we all have really good time with it.
but man... when I see that beautiful wood board... BTW : did anyone noticed the blood trace on it... or am I the only one ?

When you see that beautiful wood board, you should be aware that it could easily end up warping or cracking if it's not carefully cared for, or stained with wine when an acquaintance spills his glass on it at a party, and it'll be a heck of a lot more expensive to replace. Are you playing go or fondling pieces of wood, stone, and clam skeletons?

When it comes right down to it you don't need any equipment to play go, just use your mind and concentrate! But, in the interest of carrying things to ridiculous extremes, any wood boards and bowls ultimately mean trees are cut down, increasing global climate change; glass stones are manufactured in factories that pollute; plastic "stones" derive from petrolium ultimately (enough said).
