How many sets of go bowls does one need? See these photos on imgur: https://imgur.com/gallery/lli4wfb |

I have five sets of bowls and stones: 1. chestnut with glass stones. My travel set to take to the club (slotted board) 2. keyaki with 9.2 mm thick yuki slate and shell stones, used with an agathis two inch table top board 3. Chinese quince (karin) with 8.8 mm yuki slate and shell, used with a 2 inch katsura table top board 4. kusu with 9.8 mm tsuki slate and shell, used with a 2 inch hinoki table top board 5. mulberry with 8.0 mm yuki Japanese clam shell and slate, used with a 2 inch kaya table top board Most of these almost qualify for antique status, being upwards of 40 years old. Why do I have so many sets? At one time I used to host meetings of a go club at my home and wanted to provide good equipment for my guests. I should say that when I was buying most of them in and from Japan the exchange rate was around 250 yen per US dollar and prices in yen were much lower then, too. |

Sweet. The quality of the wood selection and the craftsmanship was probably higher then, too. |
