I think there's a Finnish word to describe this: mustavadaverybadhairday, but as correct translation to English requires about 900 words, I'll skip it.

I think these were mentioned earlier in this thread but: Chinese "qipan", Korean "baduk pan" but don't ask me what the "correct" Romanizations are.

I found some more info on the inscriptions on the goban so I updated my blog entry. The calligraphy is much much more meaningful now.
