For that kind of money (listed as $9,395) you could buy from Mr. Kuroki a very nice single piece Hyuga Kaya table board, Size 32 Hyuga (Native Japanese) Clamshell stones, and Mulberry bowls. OR A very nice Japanese Kaya floor board. |

Oh my... I spend 30 seconds waiting for the page to load and another 30 seconds trying to find a price or an add to cart button. Then I saw the price... ![]() |

Loro Piana is a expensive fashion brand. We have such a store in Hong Kong. Not that I shop there but I do know they sell expensive sweaters made with Vicuna. Not sure if they have exclusive rights to market this exotic South American fiber but they are certainly one of the few with legal rights to do so. So their accessory items would not be cheap either. Just think about how much a Hermes brand go game set would cost if they made one. |

I suppose you're paying for the brand name. In all honesty, I prefer my travel sets. |

It's not atrocious because it asks for what you (and I) consider high prices. There is no such thing as a fair or unfair price. Whatever two parties to agree to pay is the fair price. (Such things as coercive monopolies are another thing. Maybe their price can be considered unfair.) I think the website is atrocious because of the design. But yeah, the prices are silly. ![]() |

It's actually cheap compared with the prices of some of the boards gogameguru sells ![]() |

Ugly over-priced product. |

Does the price tag make it look so ugly? I think it looks really nice, but would never buy it for that price. Also the website layout isn't so bad in itself. What makes it bad is using flash. But everything there is only for rich, superficial (and most likely annoying) people, so let's be sure to show them we're the better, responsible go players, no? |

walpurgis wrote: But everything there is only for rich, superficial (and most likely annoying) people I'm saying exactly the opposite, actually. A large part of go is about the aesthetic - nobody ever heard of an alabaster stone making a satisfying thud on a wool-and-suede goban. Lava lamps are fun, but I wouldn't light up a church with them. It's kitsch. I genuinely don't like it. (Though yes, I do happen to think that someone who wants to pay $10,000 for a go board that has been "interpreted" by a clothing company is rich, superficial and most likely annoying. Feel free to convince me otherwise...) |
