Post subject:  [Need Suggestion] All People please give me one.

Hello Guys.

My country already has the organization for Igo/Baduk/Weiqi. But, our government it self still don't trust our ability to make this organization to be more serious. So, I want to ask some questions for members in Lifein19x19 here.

1. What do you think the steps for my organization to be more acknowledge by our government?
2. What do you think about the steps so my organization will be more valid and has sistematically details for everything that an igo organization needs usually?
3. What's the better ways so my organization has the solid rank by ourself? because, we only make the KGS rank as our solid rank.

Please help me with this some questions. I'll update again with anothers info.
Or do you all have any suggestion for my organization? We every year even already made at least 2 big tournaments. even, my country also participate in Tournament of 4 Country which included China, Korea and also Japan. so, maybe some fellows here can give me advice so my organization will be more solid and more raise quickly in the future.

What do you mean by "acknowledge by our government"? Actually it's not the government's business what you do about your organization and how you do it. The only acknowledgement you need would from other go organizations, but "Igo Indonesia" is member of the IGF anyway, so I don't think that there is any action needed for that point.

As you asked for some criticism, I can tell you my impression regarding the second and third point. My motivation was to get some information about tournaments in Indonesia, because my intention was to join a tournament when I come to Indonesia next year around July/August if there is any. My main criticism can be illustrated at this example:

http://www.igoindonesia.org/news/99-tou ... -ke-9.html

- There is no information about the tournament mode (Swiss? McMahon? Round-Robin? How many rounds? Thinking time? komi? time schedule?)
- There is no simple online registration form (registration works like in the days before we had internet; In the Indonesian room an KGS I also asked how the process works for registration for a tournament, and the answer was to contact some person and write him a message on KGS. Huh...?)
- There is no list of registered players
- There is no tournament result report
- There is no information in English (this is optional, because it could be interesting for international players, if there are any)

So here an example that I would consider excellently organized - I really feel sorry that I couldn't attend it. It's the Kido Cup Hamburg that occurred last weekend.

- It has its own tournament website.
- Tbe announcement contains all information necessary, the placem the fee, tournament schedule, prizes
- Since several tournaments were held there, each tournament have their own page with additional information, e.g. the main tournament: McMahon, 75 main thinking time with 20/5 byoyomi, 6.5 komi, prize money
- There is a registration page where you can deliver all necessary information for the tournament director
- A list of registered players
- Tournament results are available at the site of the German go federation and the European Go Database.

The European Go Database contains information about players, e.g. the winner of the Kido Cup main tournament (you can find my EGF player card in my signature). If you want to have independent rank information for tournament players in Indonesia, you need an own player database including a rank/rating system

As for the internals of the organization I can only tell little, because I know that in Indonesia things are organized differently than over here. Even though it sometimes looks chaotic to me, I have made the experience that somehow it still works. It also depends what you want to achieve with the organization. Typical tasks and goals of a go federation would be:

- the spread of the game of go in the country
- central organization of a go newspaper for its members
- organization of national championships
- contact to international go organizations
- presentation of go in the public media
- organizing local go groups (so new players know where to play in their local area)
- organizing local events, such as tournaments
- a youth development program
- organize beginner courses at schools and universities
- sponsor weak players and pupils at tournament to give them motivation to improve

To achieve these goals and complete these task, some exchange between the federation organizers and the members is necessary, e.g. elections of management and functionaries. Also the membership fees have to be organized (achieving the goals is not free of charge of course). To make a membership attractive, it would be possible to reduce tournament fees for members, or to issue a regular go newspaper for members.

Well that was just some brainstorming, hope it helps.
