Since igolocal.net is dead, I’d like you all to enter your Go clubs and/or playing meetings on this map so that we can find each other more easily.

PromoteGo.org
(But pls check whether yours is already in there ;-) )

<edit>

PromoteGo.org seems to be dead, too, and now there’s a Google Map that looks promising, pls head over to the new thread at viewtopic.php?f=21&t=9196

</edit>

Greetings, Tom

Hmm... what was wrong with IgoLocal? I mean - if that did not take off, why should this?

Well, great stuff, anyways. The problem will be as usual - keeping it up to date. Moving addresses, deleting closed clubs, and so on. Do you know how all this will be handled? Periodic emails and deletion if no response, any functionality like that?

Yeah, sure, but there ALWAYS are problems with ANYTHING ;-) no reason not to take something up, right?

No idea. But I know that the author (Alf Mikula, IIRC) is on Google+ and seems to cooperate with ppl on this. Perhaps just click on some of the links on the bottom and ask him?

<edit>

Added the italic “not” in “… no reason not to take something up” which I had omitted by mistake.

Absolutely. You often cannot tackle problems unless you first run into them, so yeah - take it up, take it up. ;)
Was just curious... sort-of remember this was a problem with some other club lists (AGA?)

Ugh, this one is horrendously outdated (as far as my local Go scene is involved).

As for iGoLocal, there was nothing wrong with it at all. As I understand it, the userbase was quite happy with it. It needed some work of course, but it had a very solid start. And then the owner just disappeared, and the site went down (or vice versa). I don't know if more details were ever disclosed about what happened or not; I didn't see them, if they were.

I checked out the Denver area listings. What's up with 20+ entries for Denver Go Association (which is defunct as well, I believe...)?

Here’s a Google Map with Go Clubs worldwide …

https://mapsengine.google.com/map/edit? ... aPlMDK_TPM

If there’s something like a master list of Clubs and regular Go events (like from BGA, AGA, DGoB), I recommend putting this in a custom icon and not the normal pin, for Germany and Great Britain there are these “i” markers which is very nice (yes, I placed the German one, so I’m just patting myself on my shoulder ;) )

Is this website dead now as well? I haven't been able to access it.

I just visited it -- had to login using my Google credentials, but the map is still up and populated.

I'm not talking about the map. I mean PromoteGo.org

The map seems to work, but PromoteGo.org is getting a "server not found" error for me. Also, PromoteGo.org does not come up when I type in "promote go" on Google...

PromoteGo.org seems to be dead meanwhile, too. I edited the opening post to reflect this.

Please visit this thread for a new alternative: a Google Map with Go Clubs worldwide.
