Well, waiting for the closing banquet. I self-promoted to 1d and was 5-1 in the open and 4-2 (I think) in self-pair. I also played one round of the die-hard and lost. How did you do?

Good progress for me. My first self-pair game on Monday was so bad I lost all of my territory through dead stones and captures. Then an Open win against a 25K through resignation and a loss to a 19K through resignation. But in my matches where the score was counted there was a definite improvement. In those three games (all against 17K players) I went from 113 stone lost, to a 53 stone loss, to a 30 stone loss in consecutive matches. In contrast to my first match with the death march of dead stones and captures, in my last match I only had 5 dead stones and 2 or 3 captures. Progress.

Entry rank - 8 kyu
US Open - 4:2
Die Hard - 2:0 (bye on 2nd round)
Self Pair - 0:1
Pro Simul - 0:1 (yeah, I was the first at my simul to resign.)

Had a great time this year. Hope to get to 2011 at UCSB, it might even turn into a family trip.

4-2 in the Open, playing at 1 kyu. Having been trapped at 4 kyu for four years, and 2 kyu for the past two, I was very happy with that result. Congress was great fun, and of course a massive amount of work for many of us local organizers. I think we showed everyone a good time though, as long as you ignore the problems on registration day
