Post subject:  Game display window bug using Ubuntu

I had been having an issue with the sound in KGS recently on my Lucid machine. I read in another thread on here that if I changed from the open-jre to sun-jre the sound issue would resolve, and that worked.

However, now the custom game window is not working properly. When I create a game, and someone joins, at the time when you normally would accept the game or change the handicap / komi, I can't see the names, ranks or colors of the two players in the top half of the box. Nothing displays there and it's just empty, not even a field for a player's handle.

Any ideas?

Strange. Can you post a screenshot?

You can see it clearly in this attachment. In this photo, I am waiting on an opponent to accept my game, but I should still be able to see my kgs handle and the random color emblem.

I've been busy at work, but I will tinker with this a bit when I get home.

Thank you judicata, I'd really appreciate that. I'm a new user to Ubuntu.

Downgrading to java 5 might do the trick

Just upgrade your java to the last java 6 from Sun and your client to the last one too.

That error appeared few java versions ago, after a change in java, it has been fixed months ago.
