Post subject:  Issues with CGoban

Hi,

I seem to be having some problems with CGoban lately. A couple of weeks ago, as I noted on this thread: viewtopic.php?f=24&t=2622, I found that CGoban wouldn't launch at all for me - so I could neither play on KGS nor look at/edit any SGF files. A few other people seemed to have the same problem at the time, but it persisted for me after it had apparently been fixed.

Tonight, with CGoban still not working, I finally got round to downloading it again. This worked to the extent that I can now open the program, and see all my SGF files. However, it now refuses to let me log on to KGS - when I input my username and password, I get the message:

Code:
Error "Permission denied: connect" while connecting to machine "goserver.gokgs.com".

At first I thought I must have misremembered my password (it's been a month or so since I tried to log on), so I requested a password reset - and found that my newly assigned password produced the same error message. However, I was able to log on via the KGS website with no problem. And this is where I am now - I can get in via the website, but not via CGoban, even though CGoban otherwise works fine.

Does anyone know what the problem might be, and how I can fix it?

I'd try removing it totally, then reinstalling

Sounds like it has no network access privileges.

This could be caused by a firewall.

And at least for applets Java asks on the first start if you want to grant it additional privileges. But I don't think this happens for java-webstart.

Thanks for the replies, but it turns out that no uninstalling was necessary - trying again this morning and everything seems to be working fine. Bizarre, but I'm not complaining :)
