Post subject:  Wbaduk, Tygem, why not KGS

I know KGS is written in Java but will there ever be an iOS version I can run on my ipad? Look at wbaduk for example, it is an almost flawless experience on my tablet. :)

Will there be a KGS version for Android tablets with the full KGS experience?

I know apple doesnt allow another VM to run on their platform but is there no java -> native code recompiler by now?

WMS, how about opening up the server formatting to allow 3rd party clients? ;)

This has been discussed over and over again in this forum. wms doesn't want to port it, and also doesn't want to allow 3rd party clients. If you search the KGS forum you'll see the previous threads, and the reasons.

Wms has an asus transformer tablet that he runs kgs on.

It would be nice if Apple allowed Java.

It's a shame no Tygem or wbaduk on Android yet.

I speculate that kaya.gs may have helped to provide some motivation! KGS has an unmatched community, and I'm very happy to see that a web client is underway -- it should, hopefully, ensure that KGS continues to thrive. (iPad user here, so I may or may not be slightly biased!)

I have to say,as an iPad user, kaya.gs is pretty slick. It would be super cool if kgs followed suit with a web client.

Guys, you can play on KGS on ipad, I wrote about it many times here. Look for alwaysonpc for ipad in the appstore. It is about 15 or 20 bucks but it works good (not great, because java on linux is some times buggy, but it work). With this app tou got connection to external server with linux (fedora), you have your desktop, 2GB for your files, and there is a chrome browser with java build in and you can run web version of kgs java client.

The korean version of wbaduk is available for free in the Google market, called "cyberoro" (use that as search term).
wbaduk and orobaduk are the same servers but a different login database: If you don't know enough korean to create an orobaduk login, just create a wbaduk login and send an email to the admin to enable your login for orobaduk too, then you can login on the cyberoro client on Android. The admin understands english fine. (worked for me^^)
