Hi everyone! I remember that there are some circumstances when a player can resign a game and it won't count towards anything (as if the game didn't happen). I don't know what are the precise rules for this too happen, does it is works only before move 2 or 10 or 20 ?

I ask this because today I played a game and as soon as move 8 or 9 I made a terrible misclick (instead of a typical joseki 2'nd line answer I placed a stone on the first line) and mine oponnent didn't let me undo this move. I continued playing and would lose even without this move probably, but I would rather end this game after the misclick, not play a player that in my opinion is rude.

IMHO not granting an undo is not rude; it would be friendly if your opponent did but it is not a right that a you could demand. A correct way for you to end (again, this is IMHO) the game without being rude would be … to resign or play to the end.

Sounds like the perfect opportunity for the KGS option specially designed for just this type of problem. Just escape.

Okay the main point of this thread is to ask about when the resign counts and when it doesn't on kgs. Anybody knows?

Games Ignored by the Rating System

Only ranked 19×19 games are used by the rating system and the handicap must be six stones or less. In general, a game must have at least 10 moves before it is saved by KGS and used by the rating system, however, a game with even less than 10 moves WILL count either if it is saved by the person who plays as white OR if the game was created by automatch. All automatch games are used by the rating system as soon as the opponents are paired.

Pro ranks are not computed by the rank system. Players with professional ranks on KGS have been awarded that title by a Professional Go Organisation.
