Teams (top down): Violence Marcus Phelan Shaddy dangomango jts Nigiri: (pick odd or even, then look in the tag) Rules: Each team starts with 10 edit-points. It costs 1 point for a middle brother to make a correction, and 2 for a big brother to make a correction. Every 10 moves per team, 5 points are replenished (so on move 19/20, move 39/40, 59/60, etc. of the overall game, each team gets 5 points, because as everyone knows the naturals start with 1). |

Oooh exciting ![]() Two questions: (i) Do we get new correction points every ten moves, or every ten moves with no corrections? (ii) How strict will we be about references? I'm obviously not going to consult a joseki dictionary, but should I stop reading books about Go until the game is over? |

Unless Phelan has suddenly changed his mind, this was his trigger, and I approve. Thoughts: |

Don't know how we do it here. (ii) The game will last some time, so I think reading books about go, and go books specifically is accepted. |

10 moves with no corrections gets you 5 points. Also, approved. |

Post subject: | Re: Big Brother Malkovich #3 |
Not to be too negative here, but you will run out of correction very very soon. Looking at BB#1: the first correction was in the first 10 moves and after that the number of corrections just skyrocketed. (There was seldom more than 3 moves per correction) The longest sequence I found was 6 plays for white and 8 plays for black without a correction. (The 8 plays included a forced sequence that was accepted as trigger, so you could count is as only 5) I believe even something like 5/3 would be very hard to maintain. If you are trying for a different sort of game then I'm not stopping you. I'm just noting that it is highly unlikely that you will ever see more than you initial 10 points ![]() |

If that becomes a problem, Mnemonic, we can increment down... 2x uncorrected moves gains x new correction points. I unhid part of my earlier post. |

Post subject: | Re: Big Brother Malkovich #3 |
That was a problem because the corrections were unlimited. Once corrections are more hard to come by, dan players *cough* Violence *cough* will have to make some hard decisions about what corrections are necessary and which ones are just nice to have. |
