I tried to watch the first round during this sunday. When I try to open two game observation windows almost simultaneously, the GoPanda freezes.

I cannot save game files with GoPanda. When I press save it changes the file type to the full file name and nothing happens. F.ex. from .sgf to file.sgf

The English igs page seems slightly out of date.

Correct - the plan is to replace the English page completely by pandanet-igs.com (though there's not so much content yet)

what is the difference between GoPanda, gl-Go, and Panda Egg?

GoPanda is the cross-platform client currently in development - it's still quite unstable, but will be the recommended IGS client in the future.
glGo is another cross-plattform client which is not developed anymore - it's quite similar to GoPanda with a few advantages (nicer user interface at this point) and a few disadvantages (bug in room feature, not installable in new linux versions).
Panda Egg is a windows-only client developed in Japan - it's basically what the Japanese players use. The interface feels a bit strange, though - at least for me :)

hi,

Appart from the bugs I found in GoPanda would it be possible to make the area with player names, edit + observer bottons and move information resizeable when you resize the window. That would make it alot easier to follow more than one game at a time. Then the board would be larger without loosing chat and time information. Just a suggestion.

I found the answer to my file saving poblem. It was caused by question marks in the file name. If I manually removes them I can save the sgf-files.

When I finish a game, the automatic opponent search starts.

I still don't get away and autoaway. Is that for people who are away from the computer, but would rather click this button than close the program?

Nice hint - so I'll just remove the ?'s from the filename. They arose from switching to the "new" rating system, I guess. We've been worried about file saving issues for a while now, so thank you :)

The client disregards the max opponent strength difference. I set both stronger and weaker to "1" and a game opened with three handicap stones.

Should be fixed now.

Yes, maybe you want to stay online so that e.g. observed games are kept open and still autosaved after finished. With an away state people chatting or challenging you should get a message. Autoaway does it automatically after you didn't do anything for n minutes.

I guess you use Java 5 or sth. like OpenJDK (check "java -version" from the command line). Please install Java 6 instead.

You mean with the "find opponent" feature? Interesting - never happened to me yet.

Yes, and it just happened to me again.

Edit: In fact, it seems to happen just about every time, whether max difference is set to 1 or 0. Please let us know when it is fixed!

I downloaded this, and registered for an IGS account online, but I couldn't figure out how to log in.

after starting the program, click Pandanet-IGS. Then under "Connection" choose "Configure." Then press "Add," and type in your user name and password.

Ok, I found the problem - silly me :) I'll tell you once it's done.

Cheers and merry xmas etc.

I've uploaded the new GoPanda version, so on your computer it will auto-update on next start.

Some changes:
- "Find Opponent" feature should work correctly now
- Should now work with Java 1.5, too (please someone check)
- Deleting the last account is impossible now (raised an error before)
- More informative error message in case something goes wrong

Coming soon:
- UI for handling adjourned games
- rewrite of game and player list

Cheers,
Benjamin

Thanks for fixing the find opponent bug!

Two observations:

1.After finishing a game, I get an "error saving file" error, although the file appears to have been saved correctly.

2. When inputting the default settings for "time" on the user tab of one's info, "1:00" shows up as "90." (This is not the case for inputting byo-yomi preferences, where 10:00 shows up as 10).

As for Java, I am using 1.6

Hi,

at the moment the client has no certification. I am afraid it is a little bit risky when i would accept always a certificate from a unknown origin. On the other hand i find it annoying to confirm the certificate message every time.

I am using GoPanda with Windows 7 and Java 1.6.0_23 without any serious problems.
Nevertheless here are some suggestions:

Auto-Match: I am using three stones as the upper and lower bound. GoPanda doesn't save this choice.

Game-Window:
I miss the buttons for the access to the player stats.
I dont know what is the openion of other users, but i don't need the focus-button, but i would appreciate a save-button, that saves an observed game in the folder for observed game. I don't use the auto-save feature for observed games, because not every observed game is interesting.

It's a pity that MyPanda does't offer a sgf-download. Thats why i am using also older clients like glgo. This client has also a converter tool to create sgf-files.

Finally, i also want to say "Thank you" Benjamin & Rasmus for developing an up-to-date-IGS-client.

Interesting - is there more information in the error window? Also, I'd like to know your OS.

Probably this is intended as a feature, but I agree it's a bit inconsistent. I'll keep that in mind when redoing the info window.
