I recently finished a game, and my opponent and I wanted to review, but I couldn't find the feature. There's something called "teach", but I couldn't get that working either.

Anybody know how it's done?

BTW help is also available via the client’s menus, these also lead to the KGS help pages.

Have fun, Tom

I think since he posted in the IGS forum, he want to know about reviewing games in IGS, not KGS :)

I never could figure out how to do it myself, though I know many others do it. It may depend on the client you are using.

Thanks for the replies.

I'm using GoPanda, but all 3 clients seem pretty much identical to me. Oh well, will have to fiddle around, although I would have thought this would be an obvious feature.

Reviewing a game is still done with the "Teach" command. The easiest way to probably do it is after your game on gopanda, go to the console and type "sgf <username>" it will give you a list of all your files that are stored on the server (I think they are stored for a week or so). The game should be listed as WhiteName-BlackName-DD-HH-MM (Time as in japan when the game started). Using the command "teach WhiteName-BlackName-DD-HH-MM" or under GoPanda's tools teach, and type in the file name, it will load a version of the game you can play out variations in. Your opponent can then find that game an observe it.

Thanks Mef, I'll give that a go next time I'm on.

Many people who play actively on IGS prefer to use glGo as opposed to GoPanda. glGo has an actual review function and you can invite players to review. glGo is a little older than GoPanda, but in the opinion of many has better functionality.
If you want to test it out to see which you prefer, you can download glGo here:

Thanks Neutron.

I've downloaded that, so will give it a go next time around. All three clients look and feel remarkably similar; perhaps the differences will become more apparent after I've used them a bit.
