Naming etiquette Black vs White, right? And I think this is the proper way to set 6 stones. I hope that I give you some entertainment value! In advance, thanks for giving me this lesson. ![]() |

Hi Bill, Have a nice game. ( I dunno the naming etiquette; it's always confusing for me. ![]() For 2, 4, 5, and 6 stones, the shapes are similar to those on a standard 6-sided die. 1 and 3 are the exceptions. A quick image search returns interesting dot patterns for various dice. ![]() |

I thought the standard was white vs. black, but I may be mistaken. |

I'm watching the end of TNF and will be going to bed, so no need to hurry on my account! |

Good morning, Ed. I probably shouldn't post before my coffee finishes perking! ![]() |

My power is restored (see my journal for my boring, self-centered story; hopefully, no one was really affected). Between grading papers and writing a test, I should be around all afternoon now, Ed. But take as much time as you like. ![]() I want to play at N3, but putting move 10 there messes up the board (putting a White stone there and adding my move 10 to the right). Is there a special code to go past move 9, or should I renumber moves after 9. Sorry for my ignorance! ![]() |

Here are two ways to do it. |

Hi Bill A., The move numbers are limited to only one digit in a diagram, and the "10th" move is denoted by the digit zero. Starting from move 11, we use the letter 'm' on the first line to denote the "starting" move number -- is ![]() In Bill's first diagram, he used '0' to show ![]() In his second diagram, he specified 'm10' as the starting move number, and this time '1' displays ![]() |

Hi Aidoneus, You can "quote" my diagrams (or your own) to make a new move or diagram. In all my subsequent diagrams, I specify exactly the current move number, -- ![]() and use '1' in the diagram. (But there are multiple ways to achieve the same diagram ![]() |

I have been copying Bill's boards to include the coordinates. Would you rather we leave them off? I know I will get more confused without them! |
