I don't know what will be the pace of my game with kokomi, so I decided to play another one with Hazushi, who I believe is also playing another game, so I guess there's no problem. As I'm at least one stone weaker, I'll take black with no komi. It's closed comments for players too. Have a good game Hazushi! ![]()
I like playing famous openings. I think on this game I'll try shusaku's two-komuku one. Of course that if he plays on the bottom right corner I'll have to change it. I'll see. |

Being first move I have no thoughts at the moment, just the basic 3-4 |

As I intended, shusaku's opening. |

I've been playing this a lot as white. It's fun to play retro go!

I don't really remember the name of that joseki he chose, so I'm probably going to make a lot of mistakes here. I know it's something hazushi, just like his nickname. This sounds trouble. If his nickname has anything to do with that move, he probably knows that joseki well and will profit a lot over me on that corner because all I can remember of that joseki is the standart approuch, which was my move here. Besides, I think he also chose that move because, as I started with two komukus (which I believe is a territorial style), he's going to play for influence. It's still soon to tell, but the outcome of the exchange that is going to happen on the lower left corner doesn't seem to be good for me. It will be in perfect position if I approuch his komuku on the top. I think he would pincer me and create a huge moyo on the left side... Wow, that was a big thought... |

I thought that my opponent would approach at either "a", "b", enclose a corner or play somewhere around "c" for a chinese opening. If my opponent enclosed a corner I would have done the same to one of mine.
I do not know what I would have done incase the chinese opening style, probably play out around to the star point on the top.
Approaching at "a" or "b" I had this thought out when I first made the moves in the corners but I wanted to see what my opponent was going to do just in case. |

His move now was a real surprise. I thought he would follow with a knight's move, but here I'm afraid I'm playing a small move. |

I do not have any current ideas not for this corner at least. Here I just plan to shut black in the corner and gain a chance to play somewhere else. |

I thought about playing on the other side of his stone, but I came to realize that, if I did that, he could invade the corner. That doesn't sound good. Where I played, I think he has to answer locally, and then I think I'll tenuki, but not sure yet. |

Now to see where my opponent plays. I can put this outer wall to good use later or even soon by getting a chance to play near C-10 possibly. |

I'm not sure if I'm supposed to tenuki here, but I think now is my opportunity to do so. The high approuch on his komuku on the top is an attempt to reduce his influence on that side. |

I had to give this some thought. I went through quite a bit of ideas before I settled on this. The only problem is that I do not know much about this joseki. This move is close what I was hoping for, but it is to far from what I was aiming for. I was aiming to use this to work with the wall I created. ( BELOW ) I was looking for this one line lower but even here it is far from the wall but something I am used to working with so I would have been pleased with it.
Two Ideas I have veiwed... either my opponent will extend out around the area of the triangles or go to get a stone in between my wall and the move I just played. If he extends out I will extend out to if he plays a stone in I may ignore it and play at "a". There are a few other things that my opponent can do but I am currently some what busy so I do not have the time to give more ideas.

I knew I had a pincer coming. But the three space high-pincer was actually a surprise. I think my approuch at his komuku was a mistake. Maybe I should have enclosed one of my corners, but I'm not sure. |

I'm not sure why black is unhappy, I think this is great! |

I have to think on this. Just an idea here. Here is an idea. I know well the variation that comes from this its a basic joseki and it looks to be the possible only wise option. Though I am still thinking I do not want to take that course though. There has to be something else white can do even though I end with sente this has somewhat little territorial or influencial value.
And since black can play the ladder there is also this which still does not help.
