Hello, good game!

I don't have much to say about :w2:. It's my standard opening as White. I may play a 3-3 at the top left or try something new. Maybe even the 6-4 opening I've seen in a lot of Dan games. Who knows.

I like trying new things in games. It makes them interesting. Most of my "new" things have been considered bad lately, but you can't get better without playing bad, right?

Then again, I might just stick to the safe route for this game and leave exploring new ideas for KGS.

1986 you can read this if you'd like. It doesn't reveal anything. But I hid it for the sake of consistency.
Well, what can I say about :w4:? Pretty standard. I mean, if it starts dancing, we might have something to worry about. Or maybe it'll start performing magic tricks. I think that would be pretty cool. I kid, I kid. Again, standard opening stuff here. Most of you know that already, though.

My next move will obviously be influenced by where 1986 plays.

this is one of favorite openings, i choose it beause im more confindent with the patterns thanks to michael redmond's book (smartgo books), so now its time to try it in a really slow game, now he has to approach from the top or bottom for proper direction of play or he might mirror play me, if he invades the side it will be hard to kill but i will give me something to put pressure on :study: im ready for anything now!

Uh-oh. That's all I have to say. The Sanrensai (SP) is my favorite opening, but I haven't really come across many people who play it these days. However, I played against myself using it several times, and all those times resulted in :white: dying quite a lot.

:w5: is my counter to that opening. It's probably not the best, but I really don't like the joseki sequence for W by playing at O3 or a move like it. I've seen it done many times against me, and I've always managed to take advantage of it even against stronger players. Actually, this opening is what got me from 12k to 9k in all honesty. Not many players around that level know how to deal with it.

A stronger player once told me that ranking up usually involves learning a trick players of your own rank don't know how to deal with, but when you rank up you have to continuously learn new tricks. Interesting theory to say the least.

I don't quite know if 1986 is as familiar with this opening, but I'm going to assume he is for now and I'm going to spend some time studying his tactics in other games if he did use it. That is allowed, right? I'm not sure if you could call that an aid or not lol.

Either way, this is going to be primarily a fighting game. I can already sense it. So that should be fun!

Hailthorn011: im off friday saturday and sunday, so i can play a little faster on the weekend.

for ed lee:
what a great move, i never seen it played before, Thats why i love malkovich games u get to learn new stuff,

my first thought was i would kick that stone and as a result that would weaken stone #6, but that result is better for white

& since i have a semi-moyo game i think i could just attach at O16 and just build outside influnce,

or if he hane after O16 i would start fighting because black out numbers white 2 stones veres 1 stone,

so i think i can handel it, and make a good game for black, thanks for that thought,

it is a good invasion point becasue it almost impossible to kill outright, but it gives me something to put pressure on and attack for profit :study:

mafidufa,
My point to 1986 was he probably meant to say he did not like W to get this shape (or moyo):

$$ | . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . |[/go]
Because his move :b6: ( :bc:) did not "stop W from playing :w1:":

Happy day! I finally figured out where I wanted to play! And why, might you ask? Because. The Sanrensei focuses on gaining easy access to the center, and I know this because I love using this opening. It's fun. So I was thinking to myself this morning, "if I were black, what move would I hate for :white: to make?" And :w8: (although it's marked :w7: for some odd reason) was the move that struck me.

A stronger player will likely look at this move and scoff and laugh at me. Oh well, laugh. I probably deserve it! :D But this is the best move I could think of. If it works, it'll be great. If it fails, well, I might have to look for a new day job (jk).

In all seriousness, I like the thought of this move. It *could* prevent the whole idea behind the Sanrensei, but we'll see.
