Yep, here we go again. Magicwand wanted to give me 2 stones so he could beat me thoroughly and leave no doubt to who was stronger (ok, he actually just wanted a 2 stone game, but I know the real reason ![]()
Have a great game magicwand ![]() |

As both of you well know, one single game is not enough. 10 games of 2-stones, if one side wins all 10 ![]() |

May as well opt for a normal fuseki with a bonus corner stone. @Ed: Thanks, you've given me a new goal ![]() |

Topazg: Remember our two-stone games? Harness the crazy, make it yours, and eat some white groups! |

Man, so many josekis I hadn't even seen before. I have my reasons for this one, but wow, so many complications. Still, this game's supposed to exciting isn't it? People are watching after all ![]() |

Apparently that's a mistake, and the following are joseki:
Oh well, let's see how it plays out. |

@topazg Out of curiosity, do you have a particular reference of authority for the josekis here? That is to say, how do you know which responses are joseki in comprehensiveness? I'm sure you're probably correct; it just sounds like you are referring to some sort of joseki reference by you last statement. |

@kirby: A combination of http://brugo.be/joseki2.php?pid=959&mir ... ersion=002, daily joseki and josekipedia mainly. Where I feel suspicious of the result I do pro database lookups, but these look kosher enough to my limited eyes ![]() EDIT: A study of pro games seems to show magicwand's move as played by professionals - it doesn't look hugely contextual (although White normally has a reasonable left side presence), so it can't really be a mistake of any importance. |

initial reading...but after atari..doesnt look good and leaving "a" open...it looks bad for white.
this is what i expect

From my pro studies:
After this, White proceeded with "a" invariably when he had the lower left, presumably to use thickness with fast development of the left side in exchange for a decent sized Black corner, and "b" as follows if Black had the lower left:
The idea being White lives in the corner next, and has a relatively stable middle group, and Black can build points on both sides - Intuitively, with D4 and Q16, I'm very satisfied this way, so we'll just see how it goes. Will we play all this out? It depends on whether magicwand knows these lines better than I did before we started this game ![]() |
