Which do you prefer?

And what improvements can we make? ( I've figured out how to fix the wobble and low volume on mine, so those need not be mentioned )

I like both, but I think videos should be sparsely used and only to explain basic principles (like a lecture). Text otherwise makes it much easier to at a glance see thinking lines and variations.

I chose other. The videos seem like a nice idea, but my internet speed is too slow to make them practical. So I guess it kind of wastes my time, but that seemed so negative and pejorative, that I didn't want to pick it.

I often read at work, where I don't have sound. Hence, I cannot view video comments...

Personally, I find that video is 'cooler', but it is easier to study text. You can get information faster from text, and it is easier to reread a few times to comprehend. That said, if a sequence of moves is particularly complex, it can be easier to follow via video. So I feel like text is good for most moves, but video at the various 'big points' in the game might be more helpful.

So video is more intuitive to undersand, but text is a better format for both studying and quick glances.

I selected text only. Videos take too much time to consume.

However, I actually prefer diagrams. I find it very difficult to read coordinates.

I have posted quite a few comments on the various Malkovich games. Ever noticed that most of my comment posts are largely diagrams and the obligatory one liner per diagram? Let the moves talk for themselves.

Generally I prefer text, but I don't mind an occasional video. If there was a top level (high-dan vs high-dan) game with extensive video commentary I'd probably watch them all, but for most games text is adequate. It also depends a bit on the length of video, 1-2 minutes I might watch always, around 5 minutes depends on who the video is from and what's the situation in the game, 10 mins or more would require special circumstances to watch.

Perhaps the ultimate solution would be to have a short text commentary explaining the main points + video, based on text you could decide if you want to watch or not.

In general I prefer text, because of the amount of time it takes to watch a video. On the other hand, if I do watch a video and pay attention to it, I generally get more out of it that out of the text. So I certainly would not dissuade anyone from commenting according to their own personal preference.

I'd like to second Chew Terr's opinion.

Experimenting with video commentary gave me a lot of new insight into the Malkovich games. However, I've come to notice that video commentary is really excessive for individual moves at a time. Imo, it shines for things like reviews and whole lectures, not single move analysis. Therefore I think when it comes to Malkovich games, text is better. However, I also think that incorporating video can be nice if it's used the right way; e.g: as a supplementary rather than the main tool.

I've come up with a new way of doing Malkovich games which I think is even better than the previous ways I've done it, so in a few days I'm going to play another Malkovich game to experiment with that. If it turns out successful and receives positive feedback, then I'll probably go along that route instead.

I agree, video is still good for full-game reviews, but for individual moves it is a bit excessive.

Hm, too bad, seems I am in the minority here. For me, videos transport the information in a much more lively way than the plain diagrams. I like them much better.

Voice in general feels slow compared to text. Not just for go, but for anything technical, really.

If people posted their voice, but at 1.5x speedup or 1.66x, it might work better. I listen to technical lectures (for math and programming) at 1.5x and other than needing to pause occasionally to digest it works really well.
