Hi, here is a game I just played on kgs, 25 minutes for each player. I'm playing black.

I'm looking for advice. What is my biggest weakness ?
I lost about 32 points during the endgame, but I was already 10 points behind bofore this.

I suppose that my mistake is move 63. It's a leaning attack on White's central group, and a reduction move against White's edge, but it is useless. It builds nothing.

Thanks in advance.

After C17, I want to B18. Not sure if it will change the result, but just seems that white got way too much in top left.

White's jump at F6 was also pretty big, expanding his shape and reducing yours.

Hi Pio2001,

:b13: At E15 ? If you want to jump, the kosumi feels slow.

:b15: C17 ?

:b17: Like Kirby said, B18 seems very natural -- did you misread ?

:w18: - :b19: This seems to make a difference: if :b17: at B18, your group is settled, while W's is not.
Now, W is almost settled, and yours is not.
Beware: When weakness becomes strength ; when strength becomes weakness.

:w20: B13 takes away your base.

:b27: Again, C2 is the local shared vital point.

:w30: Take the ko !

:b31: Not urgent. A18 first, then B13 to take care of your group.

:w32: B13 to attack.

:b35: Bad habit, wrong feeling. ( Bumping your head against W. )

:b43: P3 to force W to live in the corner in gote, while you profit the outside.

:b53: You got tricked. Peep at M2, and if W connects, then attack the entire W string (say, starting with M6 ).

:b57: You got tricked again, wrong shape. K2 is the shared vital point.

:w62: Kind of a disaster result for B.
Compare this result vs. :b43: at P3 ; and vs. :b53: peep & attack W.

:b63: Your note about this move -- no, the mistakes are earlier; it's already too late. See above. :)

:b65: ...especially if you get gote for zero gain.

:b67: - :w68: This exchange helps W, does almost nothing for B.

:b71: Get rid of this bad habit to give free points to W.
Instead of :b71:, if you directly hane and push with :b73: and :b75:, do you see W cannot have the very nice eye shape at :b71: like in the game ?

:b77: - :w78: Same bad habit as :b67: . You help W, for very little gain for yourself.

:b79: Very strange ; Locally, why not F5 ? Globally, too small ; tenuki.

:w98: L11.

:black: 101 Nothing to build there -- neutral area. :) Look at the whole board , see the global picture.

:black: 121 If you've come this far, you might as well finish it off with P12 -- good aji.
( Throw-in at S13 first, if you want to leave an extra ko threat at S10 just in case. :) )

( :black: 159 - :white: 160 ) Same bad habit as ( :b35:, :b67: & :b77: ) -- Finally returns to bite you. Q16 directly.

:black: 171 -- Go back and study :b35:, :b67:, :b77:, :black: 159 -- notice how you like to bump yourself against W, shortage of liberties.

:black: 189 J6.

:black: 199 Shortage of liberties.

:black: 211 G1 atari.

Thank you for the comments, both of you.

13 and 15 are the standard jôseki given in my books. But I should have played 17 B18 indeed. It was not even a misread : I just didn't even consider the move ! It is a shape that I must learn to recognize.
