Analysing games of Toroidal Go - a call for Toroidal Go game commentaries

Since June 2017 I've written about several of my correspondence games of 11x11 4.5 komi Toroidal Go - all played on LittleGolem. (On the Sensei's Library page there is a list of my blog posts about Toroidal Go.)

My most recent blog post was done a few days ago: A lucky escape and a tricky whole-board problem.

I would be very pleased if anyone would like to give some feedback about my game commentaries, or make their own commentaries of Toroidal Go games.

However, unfortunately it doesn't seem to be so easy to share Toroidal Go games using lifein19x19 SGF tools…

I gave some instructions about how to make game commentaries in this LittleGolem forum post (date of post: 2020-05-21).

Also I would recommend reviewing games by other players on LittleGolem. To start with, Crelo, Jos Dekker, and gamesorry come to mind. The game records are available within LittleGolem and they can be easily reviewed using my Toroidal Go sgf editor if you copy/paste the LittleGolem game ID.

(By the way, I'm starting to feel like Toroidal Go isn't necessarily such a good name for this Go variant. I'm starting to feel like Wraparound Go, or Edgeless Go would be better names. But I guess we're stuck with it. Anyway it's a topic for a separate discussion.)

Hi Malcolm,

I just read your blog post introducing toroidal go, and I must say it does really trigger my curiosity. It's well written, and especially seeing those game records is interesting. The board becomes almost dizzying to look at! I'd quite like to try my hand at this game.

Would you be open to a new game on Little Golem? If so, I'll open a challenge.

Yes, of, course, I'd be glad to have a game with you!
Thanks for your kind words.
