Post subject:  My sixth game as a regressed 5k :D

After being overly passive and territorial for most of my kyu career, I became overly aggressive (/optimistic) after I hit 4k. And now I'm back down to 5k (about to hit 6k too, I bet). Haha. Go figure. This was a game I played as black recently. I've included some of my own comments and questions.

All comments are welcome. Especially ones about positional judgment and when to be risky. :)

Rather than post the longwinded speculation I was embarking upon, I'm just going to really, really endorse the rather unique book "All About Thickness" by Ishida Yoshio to you. It is available as a pdf from Kiseido. I promise it will be illuminating.

Also, evidently I really need to reread it myself.

PS: I wouldn't sweat trying to look modern in early probe joseki, especially in variations that require your opponent's consent. Unless you find it more fun.

According to Winning Go by Bozulich and Shotwell, the idea behind H17, your move 15, is to give up the corner in exchange for outside thickness. The joseki move for 17 is e17 and if white plays then e16 it's probably helpful to know the joseki. :) The problem is, whatever outside thickness you would get facing east and/or south, would be facing a white stone and not a black one. Seems to me like the wrong choice.

As to move 67, the question is: how to use thickness to attack? The top right seems like a target, but how to use the attack properly... I'd like to hear ideas about this position too.

Thanks for the replies. I'll definitely look into the books you guys mentioned. :)
