Hello,

This was a game I played on KGS against a 16k. I made some terrible mistakes and ended up getting a group of about 10 stones captured... twice. I'm looking for advice on some other moves not related to that. I have tried to comment inside the SGF on the moves that I was confused about during the game and post game. Most of my comments are in the first half of the game and then during my final invasion...Any advice is greatly appreciated. Just to note to explain where I am at in GO, besides trying to play 2 or 3 19x9 games a week, I play 13x13 during lunch at work and I am going through the 321go website course. I'm currently stuck at 7-8k on igowin.

:w9: was very bad, but it needs to be responded to. At my level, for instance, I would say that whoever gets to play R16 in that situation is instantly ahead in the game. Notice how huge your corner gets if you play R16 and how weak white's one stone is, vs how weak your stone is and how much more territory white has if he plays R16 next.

:b38: : Yeah, we all accidentally play moves like this when we're learning :) .

:b42: : This is a single stone, and it is not cutting any of white's groups. It is not worth saving at this time - you have bigger moves on the board.

:b66: : The shape before this move is called the bamboo joint, and if you evaluate it you can see it is already connected - if white tries to push through, you just block. So, making this connection here is completely unnecessary.

Hope this helps :) .

I commented the beginning of the game. I hope my comments aren't too harsh! :)

You are doing a great job by analyzing your games, and you will surely improve very quickly.
