Post subject:  More running, less grabbing

In contrast to my previous post in this sub-forum, this game was a lot more running, and only a little grabbing. My primary interest here is knowing if I played the lower right correctly. ( First 30 moves or so )

I include the rest of the game for the benefit of impressionable youngsters who were excluded from my previous post. This demonstratates the evils of losing your focus. I lost it around move 135, and I suspect from there to the final nail he had at least half a dozen occasions to win. ( My gut feel is that he went the wrong direction in the lower left late in the game, pushing southward near my strength in the lower middle, when he should have been pushing westward to be closer to his strength in the upper left. )

As usual, any constructive comments are welcome.

Move 9: What if black P4? Neither ladder works. It's going to become a complicated fight.

Move 25: I'm not so sure. Capturing these stones solves the problem of having to defend the lower group. Approaching upper right is not part of the "making fist before striking".

Yes, but one that I thought favored me.

A few questions: :grumpy:
23 - Why did you not play S3?
25 - The bottom stones have less shape than the right side. Why not move out from your weaker area?
31, 32 - This exchange leaves behind the weaknesses at J4 and L4. How did you plan to answer a Black play at L4?
49 - Did you consider M11, O12, O14 as perhaps a more natural flow?
55 - Did you consider K8? If so, why did you reject the clean kill?
59 - If J9, what line did you consider "scary"? White always answers J4 with J5, no?
73 - If L13, what do you think happens?
77 - Did you consider N15 instead?
113 - Not D17?
173 - If G8, what are the bad things that happen?
184 - If Black plays A8, what happens?

23 - Why did you not play S3?
- Didn't notice that it forces him to play one more move to get eyespace.
25 - The bottom stones have less shape than the right side. Why not move out from your weaker area?
- Good point.
31, 32 - This exchange leaves behind the weaknesses at J4 and L4. How did you plan to answer a Black play at L4?
- L4, L3, K4, J3, L5 etc.
49 - Did you consider M11, O12, O14 as perhaps a more natural flow?
- It seemed to push him on top of my weakest group. I thought it wisest to not get it contained.
55 - Did you consider K8? If so, why did you reject the clean kill?
- Missed that one.
59 - If J9, what line did you consider "scary"? White always answers J4 with J5, no?
- I was reflexively assuming that I had to block at K4. Yes, J5 works.
73 - If L13, what do you think happens?
- L13, M14, N12, L12, O13, N14, O14 and my one-eyed group is getting surrounded.
77 - Did you consider N15 instead?
- Yes. I was following the proverb of leaning on one group to gain strength, then coming back to attack the other.
113 - Not D17?
- I'm focussed on the big kill. He can have three stones if he wants them. I guess it is better though.
173 - If G8, what are the bad things that happen?
- As mentioned, I didn't want him getting F7 and exploting H8 and J8 weakness.
184 - If Black plays A8, what happens?
- I lose the resulting semiai. :(
