8: It's big, but I would rather make the C15-D14 exchange and play a move like D5 or approach. 11: I would ignore it and approach one of the corners on the right side. 13: It is a bad move indeed. 20: Seems fine. 26: P8 is tighter. I think R7 looks okay too. 34: This is really bad. You lose the opportunity to cut at R7. 74: R15-Q15-R16 76: Bad; R15-R16-P14 80: There is no potential in the bottom area; everything is flat and settled. 90: What is the objective of this move? Separate what exactly? You are well ahead in territory, there is no need to brew a storm of complications. Take it to the endgame as quickly as possible and bag the win. 98: This is greedy. The only reason you'd want to save G6 would be to cut at F5 and try to attack E6, but your E8 group is not strong at all for this objective. Make a fist before striking. 100: What did you gain from the C10-B10 exchange? 106: B11 is a stronger response. 124: Too small; what about J18? 140: 4 stones that important? 148: It's not good, and Black showed why. If you could sacrifice G14 and still be ahead, then it's okay. 160: Take the ko first. I'll stop here. |

You're trying too hard to win a won game. You won the big fight on the right side, and, as of move 60, it is your game. ![]() At move 64, you are ahead by about 10 points, and there are no really urgent moves. The corners and edges are mostly settled. Making territory in the center will be difficult for him because of your Q11 and N7 stones. The only big space where territory might be easily made is the top side. If you get at least half of that, then you can coast to a win. So, when prudence was required, you approached his two stones with one of your own, making yourself outnumbered and inviting a fight that favored him. And then he pincered, and you had to run for the safety of the corner. Far better would have been something like L3 or M3. By taking the middle point of a big gap, you assure yourself at least 51% of it, or a fight that favors you. You have good fighting skills for a 7K. Just learn to quit picking fights when you are ahead. BTW: Welcome to the forums. |

At :w187:, you lose next to nothing by starting the ko at O18. Notice that you can play M18 as a net to capture his stones - you seemed to miss that in the actual game even after black tenukied from the area. |

I think that the OP has his sights on a bigger target. If he were to play M18 when black started running along the top, black then plays N17 and saves the larger bunch of his stones. |

Yeah, I meant before B219. Once B219 was played (a mistake, should be N16) white can do better. However, even then in the comments he says "I might not be able to capture the O19 stone but...", which is why I pointed it out. |
