Post subject:  3k Game for Review

It's been awhile since I posted a game for review. I've hit a bit of a losing streak, and have lost quite a few games by 0.5-3.5 points recently--I thought one of them would be good to review.

I played black. My opponent and I are both KGS 3k (for now...*gulp*). I've added comments to the sgf. Any feedback is appreciated, even players 3k and weaker; we can all learn from each other. :)

I'm same rank as you, but in my opinion 49 was the wrong direction. If you try to split the two groups with a move around P8, you keep white struggling longer and possibly gain attacks against the right group.

Thanks - I agree. I was a little worried about my k4 group, but as long as white was weak it would have been hard to attack.

Not much stronger than you so take my comments with a grain of salt.
10: I think D3 or K16/17 is more urgent. (I strictly follow Opening Theory Made Easy principles)
23: I like the connection at B5 better. Then B7 doesn't threaten your group
30: I like L3 better! you can't really seal him in because K4 is too high. But you might as well try and kill as long as you don't mess up your shape.
71: L17. You get like 4 points by blocking in that direction.
83: Ignore that! Try D11
153: Play S13 if you want it.

You played a lot of aji keshi. Most glaring is M7, where you could have attached and tried to kill the whole thing off.

Neat game. The opening was okay for you until the fighting started. You gotta stop doing moves like M7 because they just take away liberties from your own stones. He let you catch up when he played H 8 which is a super slow move, letting you take the top point.

O17: Should kick here first. If he ignores it and attaches to the shimari you hane.
P9: You didn't gain anything. There was some small aji Q9 where you might have been able to make him pick between the center and the side.
h10: Great point but maybe slightly better at d13 for the shoulder hit. Border between your area and his and it helps you expand and keep his center in check simultaneously.
F11: Should be one space jump so you don't have to fix it later.

Thanks for the comments. Everyone is harshing on my M7 :) I guess I thought the cut would still work (though looking back, it plainly makes the cut NOT work), and then I also felt okay with stones facing the center--but they were kind of stupid.
