You can't really say much out of a 9*9 games. It's all about reading/fighting there and you might not have played the best moves anytime, but this is not comparable to Go on a 19*19 board. So I would say, better show some games on the common board size. |

I have got comments (that pointed out big errors) by Uberdude previously, and that is why I am posting another 9x9 game. I am also playing a 13x13 and 19x19 as we are speaking so those games are also coming along. |

So I would say, better show some games on the common board size. Also I have a feeling that it depends on how 9x9 is played. I do not think it is all about reading, and capturing as I have learned how to develop territory, defend territory, and fight for territory using this board size. I am really starting to be comfortable with 9x9 and about to move on to 13x13 focusing on the same things. After I feel comfortable with that size I will move on to the 19x19. I do feel like I have gained alot more understanding than just reading/fighting from the 9x9 board. Cho Chi Kun has an example in the first chapter of his book on a 9x9 board, and replaying that game over and over gave me a feel for what the whole point of go is about. I really have a feeling 9x9 is just a smaller version of the full size game. It is like playing GO in micro form. |

If it suits you, by all means continue =) Personally, I had exactly the opposite experience when I startet out playing Go. 9*9 seemed soothing for me at the beginning since there was so much empty space on a 19*19. But by the time I got to play on the big board, I was even more lost than before because now you have to actually play a sensible opening, you have to know which lines are preferred to play on (the whole concept of influence is lacking on 9*9) and while you pretty much clash your stones on a 9*9, it's very bad to always play near your opponent on the big board. I think 9*9 is pretty much another game, heavily focussed on not losing your stones. But that's me, I really like to help with the 19*19 games then ^^ |

You could use some reinforcement of life and death problems (just like everyone else!). The white lower left corner was not yet alive for most the game. Therefore a hane along the left side, which robs him of an eye, will threaten the entire group. Take a look at ![]() It's only one point in score, but it's the understanding that's important. |

I'm not sure I agree with this. Yes, the hane is sente, but it's gote for white to play there and a smallish number of points. I'd rather save it for a ko threat in case a ko comes up later. Edit: also as a terminology point, I think the white corner should be called alive. It only dies if white ignores a move by black. |

Um. Quibbling over a hane, when black could have killed directly after white ignored move 35. Throw in at B1. |
