| Post subject: | Quo Vadis "Taiwan Rule"? |
Ikeda made reference to a "Taiwan rule", apparently a practice of black not playing the last dame in an area scored game. This practice doesn't make it into Ing rules. My questions are:
2. If it ever was in wide practice, why would Ing's rules have excluded it? 3. Are Ing's rules are a widespread practice within Taiwan even outside of competition? (Or do people do what they always did in friendly games, its too technical otherwise?) 4. Bonus question: Any thoughts on why Ikeda for his area rules III could not be happy with the "Taiwan rule" in place of somewhat more awkward rule of the 1 point swing adjustment awarded to whoever passes first? |

I can only comment on the statusqou, They only use chinese rules to play any game here, I couldnt see any exception, |
