Just for my interest, I made a short statistic of the first week main tournament participant countries. And then, why not share it...

198 DE
72 JP
50 FR
39 NL
25 FI
20 UK
17 CZ
16 RU
10 KR
10 BE
9 RO
9 IT
8 AT
7 CH
4 SE
4 PL
4 ES
4 DK
3 RS
3 NO
3 HU
3 CY
3 AZ
2 SK
2 IE
2 AU
1 US
1 UA
1 TW
1 LU
1 KZ
1 CA

The method: cut and paste the round 3 results list and give it to the following command (I had saved it with the name "koe":
Code:
awk -F'\t' '{print $4}' <koe | sort | uniq -c -w 2 | sort -rn

It does seem large but there is something of a tourism industry in JP of people travelling to the EU or US go congresses. 15 years ago or so, when I used to go to the US congress, Nakayama-sensei used to escort a Japanese tour group of 20 or more people, and some other people came on their own. I imagine it might be true that travelling to EU would be easier (closer to JP) so that might explain part of the size of the number.

Would be interesting to compare that with wins by country to see any disparities in win percentage.

So who do you think will win this year? C'mon people, 2 days left until the first round, let's get hyped up!

My money's on Artem of course, even tho he does not play professionally anymore (sadly)
