Just for my interest, I made a short statistic of the first week main tournament participant countries. And then, why not share it... 198 DE 72 JP 50 FR 39 NL 25 FI 20 UK 17 CZ 16 RU 10 KR 10 BE 9 RO 9 IT 8 AT 7 CH 4 SE 4 PL 4 ES 4 DK 3 RS 3 NO 3 HU 3 CY 3 AZ 2 SK 2 IE 2 AU 1 US 1 UA 1 TW 1 LU 1 KZ 1 CA The method: cut and paste the round 3 results list and give it to the following command (I had saved it with the name "koe": Code: awk -F'\t' '{print $4}' <koe | sort | uniq -c -w 2 | sort -rn

It does seem large but there is something of a tourism industry in JP of people travelling to the EU or US go congresses. 15 years ago or so, when I used to go to the US congress, Nakayama-sensei used to escort a Japanese tour group of 20 or more people, and some other people came on their own. I imagine it might be true that travelling to EU would be easier (closer to JP) so that might explain part of the size of the number. |
