A little self review to improve my game and reinforce the lessons. gomoto (white), 3D - 异乡之客 (black), 3D, W+R (Komi 0) (Hcp 0) 2018-04-29 (Just realized my opponent tricked me into a no komi game ![]() a, b, c, d, e are all viable moves. |

As a matter of style I like to enter 3-3 immediatly: Black should continue at a or b. |

The next move by black is questionable, but I encounter it quite regulary on Fox Go Server. Move a is better than b and Move c would be a mistake. |

Now a critical position in this non joseki is reached. What about whites next move? |

I played this move: But the jump would have been vastly superior ... ... continuation: |

Post subject: | Re: What I have learned from Leela: |
White still already has a big lead after this non joseki by my opponent: Move a and b would have been good moves for black. And because of the possible attacking move at a the jump to prevent this would have been the better option for white. |

Now I considered a and b: I should have chosen a. It is quite a bit better than b. |

After the black extension, move 20 by white should be at a if you want to play totaly rational. But i can not fight my urge to enter san san immediatly. I just play for the fun of it in the end and it is a possible move as well. |

Hi Gomoto, Thanks for the self-reviews. When you express an assessment on a move, is it based on your evaluation, or Leela's ? For this ![]() How does it compare to an extend ? |

After the bold (but suboptimal) play at 34 the sequence up to 38 is forced. |

Ed Lee, all my evaluations are backed up by Leela Zero. I try to understand why my game moves are suboptimal or mistakes by analyzing the follow up variations with Lizzie. (Since Lizzie version 0.4 there is a variation feature available, much easier now to analyze the sequences). Leela prefers a over b by 3%: |

@Ed Lee Variation 1: Variation 2: Variation 1 is slightly better than 2 (66% versus 63 for white). |

@Ed Lee My goal in actual game play is not to find the top move all the time. I am contend during game review if I have choosen a lesser move that looses a few percent, but managed to simplify the game. So much for the discussion is go a hard game? In my opinion it is a valid strategy to make it simpler if you have a lead after the fuseki (Which is the strong point of my game). |

I tried to play at the place of my opponents best move (in my opinion): but here I missed this better play (black can not cut): |
