So I thought I'd make a "study journal" like others on the forum have. I haven't done it before, but maybe it'd be good to have some sort of accountability. Before I get too far into my study plans, though, I thought it'd be good to pinpoint my weaknesses. It's probably good to study everything, but if I know what I am bad at, maybe I can have more direction in my study. So, maybe in contrast to some of the other study journals that are here right now, I would like to start off with a question to L19ers, particularly those that have seen some of my games (Malkovich or other). I'll try to think about the response that I get as I study: Do you see any patterns of weakness in my play or attitude in play? |

Have you considered that making a "weakness journal" is, in itself, a sign of an unhealthy attitude? To quote one of your recent hidden comments: "I guess he's just a better player than I am. Or probably, a better person." ![]() |

I believe from watching your Malkovitch games, that you sometimes let your emotions - whether positive or negative - influence your decision making. Considering your position that strategy stems from reading (my simplification), I suspect that you might consider the problem negligible, but my impression is that particularly in situations in which reading is not in the forefront of your thinking, that your moods offer you biased advice, and can become a troublesome factor. |

Thanks, daal. I think that what you say sounds accurate to me. |

jts wrote: Have you considered that making a "weakness journal" is, in itself, a sign of an unhealthy attitude? ... That's probably correct. I will change the title of this thread. I probably have enough input to just move on. What I need to do is just have action. I will post study information here as I study things. I'm going to come up with a study plan, and post it here later. |

To quote one of your recent hidden comments: "I guess he's just a better player than I am. Or probably, a better person." This is exactly what I was going to say, both the general opinion and backing it up with that exact quote. How about starting a 'strength journal', just to force yourself to think in that manner? But, however you do it, please abandon this train of thought before you find yourself paying women in stilletos to call you a worm. |

You accept that "Weakness Journal" shows an unhealthy attitude, and you change the word journal!?! |

I never changed the name. You are the one that gave it that name. Anyway, I decided to abandon this thread. |

i see that you play many good moves but you sometimes play ddk moves which will erase all good prior moves. i think that is a sign of your reading improving and all you need is some experience. in few month you will play better by not playing ddk moves. i guarantee it. |

Actually, I am planning to prepare a "study journal" soon. I would love to get some advice from you guys. By the way, I am totally against preparing a "weakness journal". I can never do that, no matter what! ___________________________ http://outlook-support.com/ |
