Hi, There was a thread about what aids people thought were acceptable for turn based games awhile back. I think it included a poll. Does anyone remember where the thread was/how to find it, the author or anything else? I ask because one of my games has turned into a sickeningly difficult tsumego, and I'm second-guessing myself about how much analysis I should do, in particular whether I should use an sgf to organize variations. Edit: as usual, you find it once you ask for it (viewtopic.php?f=10&t=3804&hilit=joseki+dictionary) |

I tend to assume anything is fair game in a turn-based game, except asking other players for help. At least, I use an sgf in my DGS games if they get too difficult, or sometimes put it on the real board. |

I think as a baseline, using sgfs or a board is clearly ok. I'm wondering how much time you'd spend and how deep/wide you'd analyze using those aids before you'd feel skeezy. Or is anything within the time limits fair game? |

IMO you may use boards, sgf, books, joseki/fuseki dictionaries,... But asking other players/an AI is cheating. Analyze as much as you want. |
